Inmates were never a band I followed closely, I’ve seen them several times. It’s always wild, flying furniture is a regular occurrence. “Role of God” Is the first album of theirs I sat down and listened to on my own accord…
and I am happy I did.
Not only did it make me pay attention to their back catalog, but it cemented them into my rotation. I have been spinning this record non stop since I heard it.
This album meshes two things I love dearly, Agnostic Front and Gism. Chainsaw ripping guitars and pummeling drums. Sharp vocals, with a sense of urgency, that brings it to the front of the room.
“Everything you’re for, I’m Against”
The songs are fast, snotty, in your face and have a total intimidating edge. Not sure if that edge I’m hearing comes from knowing how chaotic and violent their shows can be. Saw them at the ill fated Club Europa in green point and people were throwing the couches across the room.
So, airborne couches, great raw production, short and sweet. What more do you want?
